Day One of #fitbyfirst

It’s been a couple of years since I’ve posted to this blog. I’ve decided to revive it at least for now as an online journal. I may share it with the world, I may keep it private. I haven’t decided yet.

I have a confession, I’m terribly out of shape and have added a few extra pounds in the past couple months. Most of it is simply being lazy about what I eat and about how little exercise I get.  I need to get healthier. I need to get healthier for my family. I need to get healthier for my job. I need to get healthier because I’m over 50!

The bottom line is that I need to move more and eat less. It’s really that simple. I have had good intentions of getting started every week for the past couple of months, but one thing leads to the next and here it is December 1st.  Over the weekend I stumbled across a Facebook post for Carlos Whittaker (@loswhit). It was a promo of a social media type of fitness program. For some reason it caught my attention. I signed up. I even paid $10 to be a part of the #fitbyfirst program. I need the accountability. I need a plan.

So, for the first 3 days there are a couple of assignments: take a photo of yourself; complete a baseline workout; begin recording what you eat and record a video of yourself. I’m happy to say that I’ve completed all the assignments except for recording the video. I’ll get that done tomorrow. So for now, below is the December first (day one) photo. Looks like I swallowed a beach ball! Here we go…
